We ordered the seasonal omakase which was $150 per person. I can’t remember all the different things we ate but it was a really nice touch that for each course they showed us a picture of the fish we were eating. Some of the things we ate were snapper, scallops, shrimp, tuna, salmon, and much more. The menu is super curated and our chef had great attention to detail but kept up with our speed as each time we finished one course he was almost done preparing the next one. He was kind and offered to adjust the soy sauce and wasabi ratio which was considerate.
As far as constructive feedback I would suggest more maintenance with the bathroom as it’s only one stall being shared for everyone there and it can get quite messy fast.
The staff here was pleasant and really help to provide a luxe experience. Overall I enjoyed my time and I absolutely recommend.
We chose their original omakase set, which included 1 appetizer, 13 nigiri, and 1 kaisendon for $100. We also got a carafe of sake. Everything was great. My favorites of this omakase set were their botan ebi, miso black cod, and uni kaisendon. We also decided to follow up with an otoro handroll and uni nigiri. Loved those pieces and thought that they did them really well. This spot is more traditional (less innovative with their pieces/garnishes) and has a bigger focus on white fish. With each piece, we were shown a powerpoint and picture of the fish. Staff was great. Cool experience, and good omakase in Williamsburg!
SETTING: the restaurant is a typical omakase spot with a long bar as well as some booth like tables. Unlike some other omakase spots the bar is sufficiently spacious that you’re not sitting on top of your neighbor. Darker decor and dimmer lighting makes this a great spot for dinner, a date, catching up with friends, etc.
FOOD: I have no complaints about the quality and quantity of sushi here. The fish is always super fresh and delicious as is the rice. I especially love the appetizers (always changing). The rice CAN be on the slightly smaller side but not small enough to complain about. Also for $150 you get 3 appetizers, 13 pieces of sushi, a hand roll and dessert!
SERVICE: the service here is always top notch. The sushi chefs are super nice and they show you pictures of each type of fish you are eating.
VERDICT: this is my go to omakase restaurant as Williamsburg doesn’t have many options, but the quality, quantity and service make this a great choice. I will certainly be back 🙂
What makes Mido so special is the dedication to craft, education, and excitement around each piece. Every dish is accompanied by a picture of the fish, the cut, and the name. Service was on point all night and felt right at home. We absolutely fell back in love with pieces we’ve had many times before. For the unbeatable price of $100, you won’t find another omakase of this caliber at this price!
